What a consultation covers, and what it does not

Before you book

A consultation is for you if you want to understand something: a result you have been given, a diagnosis, a treatment you have been offered, a cycle that did not work, or a question nobody has had time to answer.

What happens

  1. You book a time and pay. You get a video link by email.
  2. Before the call, you fill in a short form about your situation and, if you have them, you upload your results. The form is held securely and is seen only by Dr Navindi Fernandopulle.
  3. On the call, Dr Navindi Fernandopulle goes through your history and your questions. She explains what your results mean, what the usual options are, and what the next sensible step is.
  4. Within [n] working days you receive a written summary of what was discussed and what to ask next.

What you can bring

Blood test results. Scan reports. Semen analysis results. Letters from a clinic or hospital. A list of medicines. A note of your cycle dates. If you do not have any of these, that is fine; come with your questions.

Topics

  • Trying to conceive and when to seek help
  • Fertility test results (for example AMH, FSH, semen analysis)
  • Polycystic ovary syndrome
  • Endometriosis
  • Irregular, heavy or painful periods
  • Miscarriage and early pregnancy questions
  • Treatment options you have been offered, including IUI and IVF, and the questions to ask about them
  • Questions during pregnancy
  • Menopause

What a consultation does not cover

  • Emergencies. If you are bleeding heavily, in severe pain, or pregnant and worried, call 1990 or go to the nearest hospital.
  • Anything that needs an examination, a scan or a test. These are done in person by a doctor who can examine you.
  • Children under two.
  • Medical reports for legal purposes, or medical certificates.
  • Prescriptions.
  • A second opinion that overrides your treating doctor. Dr Navindi Fernandopulle can help you understand their advice and what to ask; she cannot take over your care.

Results from other clinics

Dr Navindi Fernandopulle can explain results you bring. Responsibility for acting on a test stays with the doctor who requested it. If something in a result needs urgent action, she will tell you and tell you who to contact.

Recording

Consultations are not recorded.

Where the consultation takes place

Consultations are provided in Sri Lanka, under Sri Lankan law, to patients in Sri Lanka. If Dr Navindi Fernandopulle is outside Sri Lanka, you will be told before you book.
